Do you think loggers would buy a 440 over a 372 because the 440 is lighter, but only lasts half as long as the 372 on a tank of gas But in the list at the top, the 660 has the best power to weight ratio. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.PS- I rounded the numbers slightly How about one of you Husky owners do the same with the Husky lineup -wood be neat to compare.
On the flip side, Stihl still has the most accurate catalog weights - Dolmar allways lie, and HuskyJonsered also does it more often than Stihl. Solo used to lie on the power output instead, not sure how it is today. Bottom line - such lists, made upon the published specs, are quite meaningless. Sorry. If you look at the top 3 saws (660,460,440) cant really argue with those 3, IMO. Hey Saw Troll, how does your 346XP compare to the MS361, even though I have all Stihl equipment, Im not a Stihl Head and would consider other brands. In the end, I figured I would want the extra power (3.7hp vs. Ive read that the 346XP will cut like a bigger saw. How about one of you Husky owners do the same with the Husky lineup -wood be neat to compare. Dolmar seems to be pretty bad on their weight claims, Husky and Stihl are about the same IMO. I guarantee you if the 660 had a 36 bar and the 361 had an 18 bar then the numbers would be a lot different. Also the 660, 880, and 460 hold a lot more fuel and oil than the 361, 260, etc, further skweing the numbers. So really, this means nothing in the woods, unless you dont use bars and chains on your saws, or fuel, or oil. Is the second saw worth 100 more because its a pound and a half lighter when fully fueled. The problem I have with that: Lets take two mostly identical saws, one holds two pounds of fuel and a pound and a half of oil. I thought I would do a simple power to weight comparison of all the current Stihl models by simply dividing the claimed HP by the claimed weight; and here is the list from best to worst: model pwrwt Use 660 42.4200 Communicates directly with GOD 460 41.1000 Turns water to wine 440 38.8500 Parted the red sea, once, on race gas 650 38.7900 Cures AIDS 800 38.5700 Can hook you up with its slutty sister the 660 441 37.6700 Cures 361s of cancer 361 35.7700 Cures Cancer, duh 390 33.0800 Makes 310 uses think they are using a pro saw 280 30.7700 Its the Wood Boss nuff said. The 440 and 372XP, both about the same size, hold very similar amounts of fuel and oil because they are designed to do the same thing.
